Partial Dentures
Filling the gaps when you still have healthy teeth worth keeping.
A partial denture replaces several missing teeth in a jaw where you still have your own. It rests on the gum and is held by the remaining teeth, either with metal clasps or with flexible tooth-colored material that grips without visible metal.
The real job of a partial is not only filling gaps. It stops the remaining teeth drifting into the spaces and stops the opposing teeth over-erupting into them, which is what quietly makes a bad situation worse over five or ten years.
A partial can be added to if you lose another tooth later, which a bridge cannot. That flexibility is a genuine advantage when the long-term picture is uncertain.
Is this right for me?

What to expect
Checking the remaining teeth
The teeth that will hold the partial need to be sound. Sometimes a filling, a crown or gum treatment has to come first — that work is part of making the partial last.
Impressions and design
We plan where the clasps sit so they hold well without showing when you smile. Metal, acrylic and flexible options each behave differently and we go through them with you.
Try-in
You see the teeth set up before it is finished, and can change shade or position.
Fitting and adjustments
We fit it, show you how to put it in and take it out, and see you back to ease any sore spots in the first weeks.
Your comfort
A partial feels bulky at first, particularly against the tongue, and most people stop noticing within a couple of weeks. Take it out at night. If a clasp ever feels tight enough to hurt a tooth, come in — do not bend it yourself.
Insurance and payment, sorted before you sit down

Questions patients ask
Will the clasps show?
It depends where the gaps are. We design the clasps onto teeth further back where we can, and flexible tooth-colored partials avoid visible metal entirely. We will show you the plan before it is made.
Partial or bridge?
A bridge is fixed and feels more like your own teeth, but needs a solid tooth on both sides of each gap and cannot be extended later. A partial is removable, covers several gaps at once, and can be added to. Cost differs too, and we lay both out.
How do I look after it?
Take it out and clean it over a folded towel or a basin of water so it does not break if it slips. Clean your own teeth separately and thoroughly — decay starts around clasps if that gets skipped.
Can teeth be added if I lose another one?
Usually yes, and often quickly. That is one of the real advantages of a partial over a bridge.
Does insurance cover it?
Most PPO plans cover a share, often with a replacement limit of every five years or so. We verify your specific benefits and put the estimate in writing before we start.
